SUSTAINABLE LEATHER

Rooted in tradition, we proudly uphold the centuries-old sustainable practice of vegetable tanning for all our leather products. This organic treatment imbues our leather with rich hues and natural aromatics derived from berries, barks, and essential tannins. Setting the gold standard for environmental responsibility, our leather goods epitomize quality craftsmanship and are certified by both the esteemed Leather Working Group and the Consorzio Vera Pelle Italiana Conciata Al Vegetale.

WHAT IS VEGETABLE TANNING?

Vegetable tanning is a method of curing leather using only natural raw materials such as tannins from berries, bark, and foliage. This results in colors that are rich and deep in natural earthy tones such as browns, beiges, yellows and reds. The tanning process involves several weeks of treatment which allows vegetable tanned leather to have a much longer life than chrome tanned leather and it develops a rich and beautiful patina that gets better with time and use.

TANNINS

Tannins are naturally found in plants, berries, and barks resulting in rich and deep colors while leaving a distinctively sweet, woody fragrance on the leather. Vegetable tanning is a metal-free process that is much better for the environment, keeping our rivers clean and keeping our air  and animals healthy.

SUSTAINABLE PRACTICE
Our leather goods represent the epitome of environmental responsibility in leather production, certified by the prestigious Leather Working Group and esteemed members of the Consorzio Vera Pelle Italiana Conciata Al Vegetale.

Handcrafted in Tuscany, our vegetable-tanned leather products undergo meticulous curing processes in tanneries subject to rigorous audits by the I.C.E.C (Institute of Quality Certification for the Leather Sector) and certified by E.M.A.S (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme). Upholding ethical standards, we exclusively utilize hides and skins sourced as by-products of the food industry, ensuring no animals are harmed for their skin. Derived from dairy cattle post-mortem, our bovine leather products reflect our commitment to sustainable practices.

Employing a metal-free tanning process, we harness tannins sourced from renewable origins, aligning with our dedication to environmental stewardship and quality craftsmanship.
